Anatomically speaking, the prostate is a gland situated in the male reproductive system, and its found bellow the bladder, in front of the rectum. It surrounds the part of the urethra just bellow the bladder, the tube that empties the bladder, and produces a fluid which forms a part of the content of the semen. Prostate cancer is that type of cancer that forms in the tissues of the prostate, and usually the older man presents prostate cancer. Three main prostate diseases can occur in the prostate gland: inflammation or infection, called prostatitis; enlargement, called benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH; and cancer. Some of the problems provoked by an enlarged prostate are cumbersome for some men. Problems caused by enlarged prostate gland are weak or interrupted urinary system, difficulty in starting the urine flow, feeling the bladder full all the time, urinating very often, urinating all the day and night, urinating at night being called nocturia, involuntary discharge of urine, during the urination feeling burning or pain, hesitating stream, interrupted stream, leaking, dribbling at the end of the urination, stopping and starting again urinating, blood in the urine, named hematuria, urinary tract infection. But for this problem is not the same symptoms at all men, the symptoms can be diversified. If you’re experiencing urinary problems, seek medical advice, its better earlier than later. From the enlarged prostate gland, can appear other problems which discomfort the men. Some of treatments are behavioral therapies, medications, minimally invasive therapies and transurethral resection of the prostate. Behavioral therapies can help men to avoid surgery, and implies diets. The conservative options are tried before surgery in most cases, several medications helping the bladder to relax and making the prostate to start shrinking and rescue the men from the surgery; these are alpha-blockers which are helping the muscles to relax and finasteride which shrinks the prostate gland. Every medication has its effects but combined theses drugs are more beneficial. These are only some of the treatment. A variety of treatments are viable, depending by your symptoms. The conservative options are tried before surgery in most cases, several medications helping the bladder to relax and making the prostate to start shrinking. But from time to time you should go to doctor for medical exams. If the medication doesn’t work, the viable option is surgery. Beside that, there are more treatments to take in consideration. Some of them are predicting prostate cancer, traditional treatments for enlarged prostate, invasive therapies, therapies with similar side effects, but it's not been removed the tissue. The treatment will depend on many factors, like how fast the cancer is growing, or what kind of treatment is better or even what kind of treatment the patient wishes. |
