Anatomically speaking, the prostate is a gland situated in the male reproductive system, and its found bellow the bladder, in front of the rectum. It surrounds the part of the urethra just bellow the bladder, the tube that empties the bladder, and produces a fluid which forms a part of the content of the semen. Prostate cancer is that type of cancer that forms in the tissues of the prostate, and usually the older man presents prostate cancer. Three main prostate diseases can occur in the prostate gland: inflammation or infection, called prostatitis; enlargement, called benign prostatic hyperplasia or BPH; and cancer.

Are four main types of prostate syndromes that men can present. Acute bacterial prostatitis, the most common of the four types, but is the easiest to be diagnosed and treated too. This form is caused by bacteria and appears suddenly. Any doctor or patient wouldn’t miss; it hurts, and appears a lot of white blood cells and bacteria in the urine. Symptoms include chills and fever, pain in the lower back and genital area, and burning or painful urination, beside other symptoms apparent or not.

Problems caused by enlarged prostate gland are weak or interrupted urinary system, difficulty in starting the urine flow, feeling the bladder full all the time, urinating very often, urinating all the day and night, urinating at night being called nocturia, involuntary discharge of urine, during the urination feeling burning or pain, hesitating stream, interrupted stream, leaking, dribbling at the end of the urination, stopping and starting again urinating, blood in the urine, named hematuria, urinary tract infection. Even the most men have no symptoms, here are some ways to find out if you are ill or not. Most men find out that they are ill when they are examined through a digital rectal procedure, but usually the symptoms appears when the tumor causes urinary blockage, located in the bladder neck or urethra. Some of men accuse difficulty during the urination, usually at start or stop of the urinary stream, or appears the urinary retention, blood in the urine, impotence because of the disability to have an erection. In the last phase of the disease, when the prostate cancer has spread, appears fatigue, malaise and weight loss, bone pain and bone fractures. Those symptoms provide you warrant going to see a doctor and take your treatment.

Even if you don’t feel that you’re prostate is not well, after the age of 40 you should go to the annual check up to the doctor. He will take you some tests, and only him can say that it’s alright and you are healthy. Otherwise, you can find too late that you have problems with your prostate.
